The Future
While these and other products have been in development and testing for several years, the sky is the limit when it comes to the future development of polymer products. It is an easy leap to envision blastproof, earthquake-proof, and hurricane-proof buildings. In fact, most of the pieces are in place to create those structures now. Polymer can be used to build and coat vehicle body parts, why not make them bulletproof? The vinyl decking that is currently being used in residential construction can be replaced utilizing structurally sound polymer decking. This will eliminate the need for a major superstructure that is required to support weight in the existing vinyl system. With very little further testing, the major components for constructing buildings (2x4's, 2x6's, steel beams, etc.) can all be produced using structurally sound polymer technology. Bridge decking is the first step to entire roadways being built from polymer. The solar and wind energy industries have many components that can be greatly enhanced using polymer, as does the electric auto industry. Polymer pipelines, storage tanks, aircraft parts, lightweight body armor, and many, many more products are easily within reach.
The bottom line is this polymer product is extremely versatile, and that simply by changing the formula and the way that the ingredients are mixed, can meet the demands of almost any application that may be needed. In fact, most of the products that have been tested are a result of companies needing a solution to a particular problem. From there, it is simply a matter of adjusting to meet that particular demand.
